The programme aims to provide a support system for family members and close friends of people who suffer from any form of addictive process or depressive illness.
The family sessions provide the following:
- Emotional support and lessening of feelings of isolation when dealing with various problems.
- Education of the participants into the core beliefs of PROMIS concerning the addictive process or depressive illness.
- The opportunity to receive long-term support for family members in their own right, regardless of how their loved ones are doing.
- Family members learn not to isolate and consequently become more relaxed.
- New skills of looking at themselves rather than continuously at the person with the perceived problem. This helps the family member to live his or her own life to the full.
- Improved family communication as a result of regular attendance at the family programme.
The vast majority of Family Workshop attendee’s leave the course feeling optimistic, hopeful & motivated.
